Transmission journeyman training is intended for experienced line workers who have completed the D-B series. This level of training offers more intensive details, topics and skills.

A Level - Four Levels (two classroom and two field)

A100 Level (five-day classroom)

  • Blasting/drilling pole holes
  • Installing screw anchors
  • Installing a Malone anchor
  • Installing a bridge –Strand anchor
  • Installing a Dome anchor
  • Installing a Grillage anchor
  • Excavating and sloping/shoring tower footers
  • Erecting tower structures
  • Erecting a 765kV aluminum structure
  • 138/345 kV steel pole (energized) insulator replacement

A100 Level (five-day field)

  • Installing tower footers
  • How to operate a puller
  • How to operate a tensioner
  • Meggers
  • The barehand work method
  • 765kV bonding on (bare-hand method)
  • Installing/removing 345kV dead-end insulators (double string) energized
  • Installing/removing dead-end insulators (double string)
  • Installing/removing 345kV suspension insulators (single string) energized
  • Installing/removing 345kV V-string insulatos (single string) energized

A200 Level (five-day classroom)

  • Conductor types (I.D./characteristics)
  • Pulling conductors
  • Dead–end 765kV conductors
  • Open loop shield wire installation and maintenance
  • Installing expanded anchors
  • Erecting a 765 kV structure
  • Aluminum/steel tower inspection
  • Inspecting new work
  • Checking phasing
  • Framing a multi-pole dead-end structure
  • Repairing earthen slips and slides

A200 Level (five-day field)

  • Installing/removing running corner insulators (double string) energized
  • Installing/removing dead-end insulators (single string) energized
  • Installing/removing suspension insulators (single string) energized
  • Installing/removing running corner insulators (single string) D-E
  • Installing/removing suspension insulators (4 bundle guyed V) energized
  • Splicing conductors
  • Sag wire
  • Installing/removing horizontal post insulators (single string) energized
